The revocation undermines vital language access protections that have, since 2000, ensured equitable access to healthcare, education, justice, and civic participation for millions with limited English proficiency. Nearly 26 million U.S. residents rely on language services to exercise their civil rights and receive essential services. English-only policies threaten public safety, due process, and economic inclusion. The signatories urge the administration to rescind the order, reaffirm Executive Order 13166, and strengthen language access initiatives that promote unity through inclusion.

Signatories:
American Translators Association • American Association of Interpreters and Translators in Education • Association of Language Companies • Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters • National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf

The statement is available here.

[62
post-1122","whats-new","type-whats-new","status-publish","hentry","policy_whats_new_category-general-impact
["GET
