The Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 provides funding for State and local governments in reducing the incidence of crime and to increase the effectiveness, fairness, and coordination of law enforcement and criminal justice systems at all levels of government. Recipients are prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. Includes funding for most state and local law enforcement and courts.
